The choice is about pace
The five-hour small-group option combines Masca with the Los Gigantes cliffs, volcanic pools and a picnic. The nine-hour coach day adds Teide, Icod and Garachico. That is excellent value, but Masca becomes one stop in a long route rather than the centre of the day.
The Teno hike is different: its page describes a 3.5-hour guided outing through the massif to Masca, with transport included. Choose it for paths and viewpoints, not for the deepest part of the gorge. If you want the ravine itself, read the Masca Gorge hike comparison.
Driving yourself gives freedom but also leaves you to handle a twisting mountain road and parking. Compare Tenerife hire cars only if that trade-off suits you.
Our recommendation
The Masca, Los Gigantes and Natural Pools trip is the balanced choice: enough time to make the west the point of the outing without turning it into a nine-hour island checklist.
