Animals and farms with children in Tenerife: camels, a banana finca, Jungle Park and a pony-pace ride
Updated October 7, 2026 · 7 min read
The short answer: for most families the Finca Las Margaritas Banana Plantation Experience is the easy first choice — €10 per person, 4.7 stars from 1,565 reviews, about an hour, guided or self-guided, with bananas and gofio to taste. If the children want animals they can touch, add the Camel Experience from €9. For a full day with shows, the Jungle Park Zoo ticket is €36.

These outings share one useful property: they are short or self-paced, so a child who gives up after forty minutes does not ruin a day. They differ in what the page says about age and who can take part, and that is where families go wrong. This guide goes by what the listings state; where a page names no age, we say so.
Four animal and farm outings compared
| Outing | Duration | From | Rating | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Finca Las Margaritas Banana Plantation Experience | 1 hour to 75 minutes | €10 per person | 4.7 (1,565) | Most families, a short and cheap outing |
| Tenerife: Camel Experience | 45 minutes to 1.5 hours | €9 per person | 4.7 (764) | Feeding animals and a short camel ride |
| Arona: Entry Ticket to Tenerife’s Jungle Park Zoo | A day, entry valid for one day | €36 per person | 4.5 (1,153) | Shows, penguins and lemurs |
| Guided Horseback Riding Tour to the Lomo Forest | 1.5 hours listed, about three hours from arrival | €48 per person | 4.8 (273) | Children who want to ride, at walking pace |
The banana finca
The finca offers a guided tour or a self-guided visit with numbered signs, printed guides in several languages and QR codes for short videos. You walk through the plantation, see how bananas are grown and, in the guided version, watch the traditional making of gofio, a traditional flour. The visit ends at a small stop where you taste bananas and gofio products. The page says to allow at least an hour, lists free parking at the main entrance and tags it as wheelchair accessible. It names no minimum age.
The camel park
The camel park sits in La Camella, which the page puts ten minutes from Costa Adeje, Los Cristianos and Las Américas, and it offers a shuttle. The camel ride lasts about 20 minutes and, according to the page, is open to children of all ages when accompanied by an adult. Two things to check: the ride is not included in every ticket, because there is a farm-only option, and the page asks you to read each option’s description. Children can also feed the farm animals fruit. The page lists pregnant women, wheelchair users, people with animal allergies, people over 110 kg and people over 95 years as not suitable.

Jungle Park
Jungle Park has more than 400 animals of over 100 species on 75,000 square metres, with a sea lion show, a free-flight show with birds of prey, another with exotic birds, penguin feeding and a path among lemurs. The ticket is valid for one day. The park is open every day of the year, the last entry is at 4pm, and it is tagged as wheelchair accessible. The page states no minimum age. Food and drinks are not included, and the page mentions €4 for parking; one reviewer found the park’s food standard and highly priced. Start early: the last entry is at 4pm.
The horse ride
The Lomo Forest ride is the horse ride whose page is written for beginners and children: it is advertised as a taster ride for beginners, non-riders and children at walking pace, for riders up to 85 kg. The booking page lists children under 5 as not suitable. Family members who do not ride can walk alongside, and the page says a leading person at the child’s side can be requested. The day is longer than the 1.5 hours suggests: guests arrive at 11am to groom and saddle, the trail starts at noon, and nobody arriving after 11:30am is taken. Other rides on the island set different minimum ages, which our horse riding guide compares.
Getting there
The camel park page mentions a shuttle. The banana finca has free parking at the entrance, and the Jungle Park page gives the park itself as the meeting point. You can compare hire cars and pick-up points for Tenerife before you decide.
What the listings do not tell you
None of the pages for the finca, the camel park or Jungle Park gives a minimum age. Weather: Tenerife’s north is cooler and cloudier, so the forest ride can be damp. Children with animal allergies should skip the camel park, which lists them as not suitable; ask your doctor or paediatrician if you are unsure. Check cancellation terms before you pay.
Who should skip it
Children who are frightened of animals, because feeding and riding are the point. And anyone who wants a water park: for that, see Siam Park, and for the wider picture Tenerife with children.
Our recommendation
